Following their semi-final exit against hosts South Africa in the 2023 T20 World Cup, England has shown remarkable resilience, losing just 5 of their last 22 T20Is. They enter the 2024 World Cup on a high, having gone unbeaten this summer with series victories over Pakistan (3-0) and New Zealand (5-0). Their fearless, exciting and inspiring brand of cricket has been key to their recent dominance, positioning them as strong contenders for the title.

England’s squad selection for the 10-team tournament includes no major surprises, with the selectors opting to retain the core group of players who have been instrumental in their success. Keeper-batter Bess Heath, along with pace-bowling all-rounders Freya Kemp and Danielle Gibson, are set for their maiden World Cup appearances, with Gibson making the final 15 after being a reserve in the last edition.

Heather Knight will lead the side, with Nat Sciver-Brunt as her deputy. The batting lineup is packed with experience and talent, featuring Danni Wyatt, Sophia Dunkley, Amy Jones, Maia Bouchier, and Alice Capsey. The inclusion of Freya Kemp, alongside all-rounders Nat Sciver-Brunt, Danielle Gibson, Sophie Ecclestone, and Charlie Dean, known for their ability to accelerate, adds depth and versatility to the squad.

England has chosen four frontline spinners, with Sophie Ecclestone and Linsey Smith offering left-arm options, while Sarah Glenn brings leg-spin and Charlie Dean provides right-arm off-spin. These spinners are well-suited to capitalize on the expected spin-friendly conditions. In the pace department, England has roped in just two frontline seamers, Danielle Gibson and Lauren Bell, alongside Nat Sciver-Brunt and Freya Kemp.

Although pacer Lauren Filer has not been included in the squad or reserves, she will accompany the squad to the UAE for a pre-tournament training camp in mid-September. England, placed in Group B, will begin their World Cup campaign on October 5th against Bangladesh, followed by matches against Scotland, West Indies, and South Africa.
